ABOUT THE TREK

Unraveling the Mystique

The Hamta Pass Trek (4,270 m) is one of the most diverse treks in India. It takes you on an exhilarating journey from the lush green valleys of Kullu to the stark desert landscape of Lahaul. Starting from the charming town of Manali, this 4-day trek offers an unparalleled adventure through dense forests, alpine meadows, glacial valleys, and high mountain passes. The trek is moderately challenging, making it ideal for novice and experienced trekkers.

The journey to Hamta starts from Manali and the trek begins from Chika, Jobra village. The trail takes you through thick forests of deodar and oak, opening up to expansive meadows dotted with wildflowers. The river crossings, including the gushing streams of Chika and Balu ka Ghera, add to the excitement. The climb to Hamta Pass above 14,000 feet is the highlight, offering panoramic views of the Pir Panjal and Spiti ranges.

Descending into the Lahaul Valley, you'll witness a dramatic change in landscape, with the lush greenery giving way to the arid beauty of the Spiti region. You can also explore the stunning Chandratal Lake, known for its pristine blue waters and serene surroundings for just one added day.
